Amy Warren serves as a Lecturer in the Curtin School of Allied Health, part of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin University in Perth, Australia, a position she has held since March 2020. She is also a PhD candidate at the same institution, researching 'Violence against women across the lifespan' through a three-staged, mixed-methods exploratory study. Warren earned her Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) from Curtin University in 2017, after commencing her studies in 2014. Her academic career includes serving as a Sessional Academic in the School of Occupational Therapy, Social Work and Speech Pathology from February 2020 to December 2022. Concurrently, she worked as a Senior Social Worker at St John of God Hospital Subiaco from November 2021 to November 2024, applying her expertise in social work practice.
Warren's research interests center on family and domestic violence (FDV) and elder abuse, particularly in rural and remote settings. Her scholarly contributions include numerous publications that address gaps in policy, prevention, and responses to these issues. Notable works are "Exploring Categories of Family Violence Across the Lifespan: A Scoping Review" (2023), which examines violence typologies over time; "National Policies on Family Violence and Older People: How Is Elder Abuse Represented in Policy?" (2023); "Advocacy skills, core competencies, and training opportunities: A scoping review" (2023); "Victimisation of the Vulnerable Older Rural Resident" (2022); "Elder abuse protocols: identifying key features and establishing evidence for their use and effectiveness" (2020); "Reviewing the extent of rural and remote considerations in elder abuse policy: A scoping review" (2019); "From Economic Abuse to Economic Empowerment: Piloting a Financial Literacy Curriculum With Women Who Have Experienced Domestic and Family Violence" (2019); and "Bridging the gap between responses to elder abuse and responses to family and domestic violence in rural and remote communities" (2018). She has also authored the technical report "Elder Abuse in Rural and Remote Communities: Social Policy, Prevention and Responses" (2018). Through these efforts, Warren bridges academic research with practical interventions, enhancing support for vulnerable populations affected by violence.
