André Rodrigues is a Professor in the Department of General and Applied Biology at Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), Rio Claro campus. He holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of São Carlos, a master's degree and a PhD in Applied Microbiology from UNESP Rio Claro, with a sandwich doctorate period at the University of Texas at Austin. He completed postdoctoral research at the University of Florida and additional postdoctoral work on fungal diversity at UNESP in collaboration with UNICAMP.
Rodrigues is a mycologist specializing in insect-fungus associations, with a primary focus on the taxonomy, diversity, ecology, and evolution of fungi associated with attine ants and other insects. He serves as curator of the Central de Recursos Microbianos at UNESP and has been involved in scientific outreach activities. He was an affiliated member of the Academia de Ciências do Estado de São Paulo from 2020 to 2024 and is a researcher associate at the Centro de Pesquisa em Biodiversidade e Mudanças do Clima. Rodrigues coordinates the Graduate Program in Biological Sciences (Cellular, Molecular and Microbiology) at UNESP Rio Claro.
