Andrew Cahall is Assistant Professor of National Security and Intelligence at Fairmont State University, where he also directs the Open Source Intelligence Exchange (OSIX) in the College of Liberal Arts, Department of Social Sciences. He earned his Ph.D. in Public Administration from Liberty University, M.S. in Legal Studies from Purdue University, and B.S. in Criminal Justice from Purdue University. These degrees provide a robust foundation for his contributions to the National Security and Intelligence program, emphasizing intelligence analysis, public administration, and legal aspects of security.
As Director of OSIX, Cahall leads an initiative dedicated to advancing national security through the collection, analysis, and dissemination of open-source intelligence. OSIX integrates emerging technologies such as advanced data analytics and machine learning, processing data from social media, academic publications, government databases, and real-time streams to deliver actionable intelligence to defense agencies, law enforcement, nongovernmental organizations, and industry partners. Cahall fosters innovation, education, and collaboration, training student scholar-analysts in intelligence practices. In June 2025, he spearheaded a pilot program partnership with ProWave AI, incorporating the Stylo News platform to enhance OSINT capabilities. Cahall explained, "This partnership will enhance our ability to support critical missions by leveraging AI to efficiently process and analyze global information streams. What makes this collaboration particularly valuable is that it allows our team to help shape the future of OSINT collection methods while simultaneously preparing our analysts for the increasingly tech-driven intelligence landscape they'll encounter in their careers." He added, "The Stylo News platform promises to revolutionize how we aggregate and process open-source information, enabling our analysts to focus more on high-level analysis. This pilot program positions OSIX as a pioneer in implementing AI-driven OSINT solutions, ensuring our analysts are well-versed in the tools that will define the future of intelligence work." Cahall has presented scholarly work, including "Evolution of Russian Cyber Warfare: AI-Enhanced Battlefield Operations" at Gannon University's Intelligence Conference. He serves as faculty advisor for the National Security and Intelligence Student Association and teaches courses such as NSIS 4998 Undergraduate Research-Honors.
