Andrew Hardin, Ph.D., is a full Professor of Information Systems and Department Chair in the Management, Entrepreneurship, and Technology Department at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Lee Business School, within the broader domain of Business & Economics. He earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems from Washington State University (2001–2005), Master of Business Administration from California State University, Bakersfield (1999–2001), and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (MIS) from the same institution (1996–1999). Hardin joined UNLV in 2007 as Assistant Professor in the MIS Department, advancing to Associate Professor (early tenure) by 2014 and Full Professor thereafter. His leadership roles include Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs (2014–2018), Director of the UNLV Center for Entrepreneurship (2010–2016), and initial directorships of the MBA New Venture Management Certificate and MS in Management Information Systems programs. Prior appointments encompass Visiting Associate Professor at Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University in Germany (2011) and Visiting Assistant Professor at the Mason School of Business, College of William & Mary (2005–2007).
Professor Hardin’s research focuses on virtual collaboration, financial decision support systems, and research methodologies, with publications in leading journals such as Management Science ("Decision Support for Retirement Portfolio Management: Overcoming Myopic Loss Aversion via Technology Design," 2009, with C. Looney), MIS Quarterly ("When Filling the Wait Makes it Feel Longer: A Paradigm Shift Perspective for Managing Online Delay," 2013, with W. Hong and T. He has served as senior editor for three of the top eight Information Systems journals. Hardin has earned the UNLV Lee Business School Research Faculty of the Year award twice (2009, 2011), alongside teaching and service accolades like MIS Department Teaching Faculty of the Year (2009, 2012). Since arriving at UNLV, he has helped secure over $5 million in donations, grants, and NSF awards, including as PI for NSF I-Corps grants ($418,178 in 2016 and 2019).
