Dr. Anindya Sen is a lecturer in the Department of Accountancy and Finance at the University of Otago, having joined the department in May 2014. He holds a B.Stat. from the Indian Statistical Institute and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Chicago. Prior to his appointment at Otago, Sen lectured at the Indian Institute of Management, one of India's leading business schools. Earlier in his career, he worked for four years as a Quantitative Strategist at Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley in London, where his responsibilities included modeling complex financial derivatives and designing customized financial products for clients. This blend of academic teaching and practical experience in quantitative finance informs his contributions to the field of Business & Economics.
Sen teaches core courses in Statistics and Finance in the MBA program and delivers FINC 202: Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management. He emphasizes quantitative proficiency at least at the GMAT mathematics level and illustrates concepts using examples from management disciplines and natural sciences to highlight their universal applicability beyond cultural or regional contexts. His research interests encompass investment analysis, portfolio management, financial derivatives, and quantitative strategy. Key publications include 'The Complexities of Falling Freely' (with S. Chebolu, 2024, College Mathematics Journal); 'On the International Spillover Effects of Uncertainty' (with D.
