Anne Corbett is Professor in Dementia Research and Director for Business Engagement and Innovation for the Department of Health and Community Sciences at the University of Exeter. Her research focuses on brain health in ageing and digital research methodologies. She leads the PROTECT research team, coordinating a broad portfolio of international research in cognitive and brain health. Professor Corbett has developed an innovative digital research platform that delivers large-scale research using remote and online approaches, including large longitudinal studies such as the flagship PROTECT-UK ageing cohort, remote clinical trials, remote biomarker sampling and computerised cognitive assessment systems. The PROTECT portfolio spans ten countries, hosts over 100 collaborations and is funded by a wide network of partnerships in both academic and industry sectors. The portfolio is closely affiliated to the Exeter Biomedical Research Centre.
Professor Corbett is leading the new digital platform PORTAL, which applies the PROTECT platform technology to recruit, triage and fast-track participants to research studies, boosting delivery of biomarker studies and clinical research. She is also lead for the VITAL study, which validates a remote finger-prick blood sampling technology for detection of neurodegeneration biomarkers. Anne is the academic lead for the PROTECT study at the University of Exeter. Her research focuses on cognitive health in ageing and how dementia might be prevented in older adults. She has a wide portfolio of dementia research ranging from online studies into risk reduction, drug discovery, clinical trials and care home research. She has published over 80 research papers and has authored leading clinical guidance on dementia care. Professor Corbett previously held the position of Senior Lecturer in Dementia Research at King’s College London.
