Anne Dabb serves as a Lecturer in the Philosophy Department within the College of Humanities, Arts, Business and Social Sciences and in the Environmental Studies Program of the Department of Environment and Geography at California State University, San Marcos. Her office is located in the Social and Behavioral Science Building, and she can be reached at (760) 750-8092. Dabb teaches courses including PHIL 110: Critical Thinking, ENVS 100: Introduction to Environmental Studies, and ENVS 300: Place, Power, and Environment. In ENVS 300, students participate in service learning projects, such as collaborations with the Boys and Girls Club of Vista, exploring place, power, and environmental dynamics.
Dabb actively mentors students in climate-related initiatives, serving as faculty advisor for the Climate to Action student podcast produced at Inspiration Studios on the CSUSM campus, featuring discussions on environmental stewardship, San Diego Climate Week, and climate literature. She also advises the Read the Climate podcast team, focusing on environmental narratives and climate fiction (cli-fi). Additionally, she co-presented on contemplative practices to mitigate climate change anxiety at the Mindful CSUSM Summer Conference 2026 and participated in a CSU Global webinar on amplifying student voices in global sustainability alongside Molly Saruwatari. Within the university, Dabb contributes to governance as a member of the CHABSS Lecturer Advisory Committee and holds an ex-officio, non-voting position on the Decolonization, Anti-Racism, Equity & Inclusion committee for 2023-2025. She is recognized as a CALM Hero for PHIL 110, supporting affordable course materials. Complementing her academic roles, Dabb has extensive international experience, having lived, worked, and taught in Austria, Canada, Croatia, Germany, India, Turkey, and the United States. She directed international education programs for organizations including Clemson University and founded a globally focused NGO based in Austria and Germany, partnering with women-led community organizations on water resource access, protection, and sanitation systems.
