Anne Leversha serves as a Senior Lecturer in Rural Health Latrobe Valley and West Gippsland at Monash University, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. A practising clinical pharmacist, she has developed a specialized curriculum for medical students emphasizing applied pharmacology, therapeutics, and safe prescribing. Within the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, she instructs in therapeutics and acts as a clinical educator in the Professional Experience Program. Previously, she held the position of Director of Pharmacy and served as the Rural Advisor for the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) for 18 years. She is a Fellow of SHPA, recognized by Professional Achievement in 2008.
Leversha's dedication to medication safety is evident in her delivery of workshops and clinical pharmacy seminars across Australia and internationally. She has been involved in numerous committees and reference groups concerning health, medication safety, rural practice, clinical placements, pharmacy education, and medical education, including the Victorian Medicines Advisory Committee. Additionally, she participated in a consortium that developed a clinical educator preparation program and contributed to the committee responsible for the latest SHPA Standards of Practice for Clinical Pharmacy Services. Her research focuses on medical education, pharmacy education, and rural health, with 32 articles and other outputs. Notable publications include "Medical student perceptions of their knowledge and skills in pharmacology in their first and final clinical years" (2019, MedEdPublish, with S. Bullock), "Factors influencing pharmacy students' internship site choice" (2016, Journal of Pharmacy Practice and Research, with K. Stewart), "Evaluation of pharmacy students' rural placement program: preparation for interprofessional practice" (2015, Australian Health Review, with H. Khalil and J. H. Walker), "Making Bachelor of Pharmacy Students Hospital Placement Ready: a Monash Experience" (2016), and "Overview: Standards of Practice for Clinical Pharmacy Services" (with G. Taylor). Her contributions align with UN Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being.
