Arvind Gudi is a Professor of Decision Sciences in the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University. He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Florida International University, where he completed his dissertation titled 'Effective Knowledge Integration in Emergency Response Organizations' in 2009, an M.S. in Management Information Systems from the same institution, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the College of Engineering, Pune, India. Before entering academia, Dr. Gudi occupied several professional and management roles in consulting and private sector companies, specializing in systems strategy, development, and project management. His consulting and research engagements have involved public-sector entities, including NASA and the Miami-Dade Emergency Operations Center.
Dr. Gudi's academic interests center on knowledge management and integration challenges within emergency and disaster management, alongside digital transformation, data analytics for business, service operations management, business statistics, and mindfulness practices for enhancing leadership and management effectiveness. He teaches courses such as Information Strategy for Digital Transformation, Digital Transformation and Analytics Strategy, and Decision Sciences Internship. Notable publications include 'Exercise Motives Impact on Physical Activities Measured Using Wearable Devices' (Health Promotion International, 2022), 'The Impact of Exercise Motives on Adolescents’ Sustained Use of Wearable Technology' (Behaviour & Information Technology, 2020), 'When Things Go Right in Disasters: The Moderating Effect of Specific Knowledge on Task Performance' (International Journal of Information Systems for Crisis Response and Management, 2019), 'The Knowledge-as-Object Metaphor: A Case of Semantic Pathology' (International Journal of Knowledge Management, 2015), 'Emergency Management Task Complexity and Knowledge-Sharing Strategies' (Cutter IT Journal, 2011), and 'An Experiential Approach to Teaching Knowledge Management' (International Journal of Teaching and Case Studies, 2008). Dr. Gudi earned the Best Paper Award at the Academy of Business Research Conference in 2016 for 'A Quantitative Study of the Penetration of Agile Methods for Software Development.' He founded the Mindfulness Society at the Huizenga College, acts as faculty coach and advisor, and delivers seminars, workshops, and study groups on self-awareness, focus, mental agility, and leadership qualities. His conference presentations encompass digital entrepreneurial drive, wearable technology adherence, communities of practice with yoga, business intelligence, and effective knowledge management strategies in emergency response organizations.
