Bill T. Morgan serves as Clinical Associate Professor and Program Director for Project Design & Analysis in the Department of Multidisciplinary Innovation within the University of North Texas College of Applied and Collaborative Studies. Holding a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Houston in 1982 and a Master of Fine Arts in Design with an Interior Design specialization from the University of North Texas in 2018, Morgan's academic background bridges architecture and advanced design practices. His MFA dissertation, "Violence and Victimization in Public Schools: Students’ Perception of Safety," examines how spatial attributes influence perceptions of safety in educational environments. In the field of Architecture and Design, he specializes in design and design research courses, with professional expertise honed through roles such as Senior Architect at Kirkpatrick Architectural Studio (2016-2018), Office Manager and Senior Architect at Shiver + Associates (2008-2016), Director of Design and Construction at Texas Woman’s University (2007-2008), Associate Architect at Simon Oswald & Associates (2002-2007), Functional Manager at the University of Missouri (1996-2002), and Design Manager at Hallmark Cards (1992).
Since 2011, Morgan has taught extensively at the University of North Texas, including courses on applied design research, strategic design, industrial design thinking, introduction to interior design, drawing for interior design, space planning, interior design building systems, project management, professional internships, and integrated capstone projects. His research interests encompass the interplay between design and ethics, spatialization of violence in American schools, creativity in design education through experiential learning and metaphor, and the invisibility of order in sustainable built environments. Notable publications include "Sustainable Textiles for Health and Well-being: An Investigation of Curricular Opportunities for Fashion Design and Interior Design Student Collaboration" (2022, co-authored with Trippeer, Stark, Gam, Ellis, and Park) and "Explorations - Publication of Student Work" (1982, Museum of Finnish Architecture). Morgan has delivered workshops at the Environmental Design Research Association (2018) on mapping violence in schools, the APA Creativity Conference (2024) on teaching creativity, and the American Anthropological Association (2017) on sustainability. Awards include a Colleague Commendation for UNT’s Courageous Integrity initiative (2024) and a Thank a Teacher Commendation (2015). He contributes to university service through committees such as the Microcredential Steering Committee (2023) and various CACS committees (2024), including chairing the Food Committee.
