Dr. Bingyan Pang is a Lecturer and Research Fellow in the Curtin School of Allied Health within the Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin University. She holds a Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine (BPodM) from The University of Western Australia, completed between March 2008 and November 2012, a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the same university from July 2013 to November 2015, and a PhD from Curtin University from August 2020 to September 2024, officially conferred in November 2024. Her doctoral research focused on physical activity, psychology, and behaviour change, specifically the development, refinement, implementation, and testing of a Vigorous Intermittent Lifestyle Physical Activity (VILPA) intervention for adults transitioning to retirement aged 55 and above. This intervention promotes accessible high-intensity physical activity bouts integrated into daily life, aligning with World Health Organization recommendations for 75 minutes of vigorous activity weekly without requiring special skills, equipment, or venues.
Pang's academic interests encompass physical activity in ageing adults, barriers and facilitators to vigorous lifestyle physical activity participation, and its role in populations with type 2 diabetes and lower limb complications. She contributes to the enAble Institute's dementia and ageing team, emphasizing physical activity for older adults. Key publications include 'Barriers and Facilitators to Participation in Vigorous Lifestyle Physical Activity in Adults Aged 55–75 Years: A Scoping Review' (Journal of Aging and Physical Activity, 2024); 'An Exploration of Adults Transitioning Into Retirements' Perspectives on Vigorous Intermittent Lifestyle Physical Activity' (Health Promotion Journal of Australia, 2025); 'Testing a Vigorous Intermittent Lifestyle Physical Activity Intervention in Adults Transitioning to Retirement: A Pilot Randomised Controlled Trial' (Age and Ageing, 2025); 'Refining and Implementing a Vigorous Intermittent Lifestyle Physical Activity Intervention: Views of Key Stakeholders' (Journal of Aging and Physical Activity, 2025); 'Exploring Physical Activity in Individuals With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Lower Limb Complications: A Scoping Review' (Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism, 2025); and 'Management of Diabetes-Related Foot Disease in the Outpatient Setting During the COVID-19 Pandemic' (Internal Medicine Journal, 2021). Her research has garnered 26 citations, advancing knowledge on feasible strategies to enhance physical activity and health outcomes in older populations.
