Professor Bobby Chacko serves as Conjoint Professor in the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Newcastle, affiliated with the Medicine faculty. He is Director of Renal Services and Senior Staff Specialist in Nephrology and Transplantation at John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle, New South Wales. His extensive qualifications include MBBS, MD (Medicine), DNB (Medicine), DM (Nephrology), DNB (Nephrology), FRACP, FASN, and FISN. In addition to his clinical leadership, Professor Chacko chairs the NSW/ACT Renal Advanced Training Committee and participates as a member of the Kidney and Urinary Biobank Oversight Committee at the University of Newcastle. These roles underscore his commitment to advancing renal medicine through education, training, and biobanking initiatives.
Professor Chacko's research focuses on nephrology and transplantation, with expertise in diabetic kidney disease, IgA nephropathy, hypertension, cardio-renal syndrome, and kidney transplantation. He holds the position of National Scientific Leader for clinical trials in IgA nephropathy and diabetic kidney disease.
