Dr Bradley Frew is a Lecturer within the Department of General Practice at Monash University, specifically at the Peninsula Clinical School, where he combines his role as an academic with his practice as a General Practitioner. He obtained his MBBS with Honours from Monash University between 2000 and 2005. Prior to joining the Department of General Practice, Dr Frew served as a Lieutenant Medical Officer for the Royal Australian Navy, which provided him with diverse clinical experiences that inform his teaching and research activities. Currently, he holds the position of Year 4C GP Co-ordinator and Year 4 General Practice Teacher at the Peninsula Clinical School. His contributions to medical education are multifaceted, including managing online materials for students, developing assessment materials for Year 4, and conducting research focused on the Medical Student Clinical Exposures logbook.
Dr Frew has made notable advancements in educational technology at Monash University. He improved the MOODLE online learning platform by creating a new travel medicine module specifically for MBBS students, as highlighted in the Department of General Practice's 2016 Annual Report. Furthermore, he developed a secure website for all OSCE stations, earning recognition for achievement in Teaching Excellence (Innovation) in General Practice, as noted in the Primary Health Christmas newsletter. Dr Frew was involved in a Monash MBBS Development Grant awarded in 2015 to Chief Investigators including Jan Coles, Dennis O'Connor, and Vanessa Ratnasingam for educational developments. He has also served as a supervisor for Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) research projects, listed alongside Dr Cathy Haigh in 2018 project opportunities located in Traralgon or Warragul. His research specializations encompass general practice and medical education. A key publication is the peer-reviewed poster 'Medical Student Exposures in General Practice Education and Training (MEGPET): An Overview,' presented on 29 September 2016 and co-authored with Cathy Haigh and Bill Haigh from the School of Rural Health. Dr Frew continues to play a vital role in enhancing clinical training and primary health care education through his ongoing work at Peninsula Clinical School and the Department of General Practice.
