Bridget Benoit serves as the Administrator for Registrar Training in the Department of Psychological Medicine at the University of Otago, Christchurch, within the Division of Health Sciences. She provides critical administrative support to the Christchurch Psychiatric Registrar Training Programme (incorporating Nelson), a joint programme between the University of Otago and the Canterbury District Health Board. This programme trains registrars for Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and features approximately 26 full-time equivalent training posts across sites including Hillmorton Hospital, Christchurch Public Hospital, Women's Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, Burwood Hospital, and community clinics. Rotations cover subspecialties such as adult general psychiatry, community psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, consultant-liaison psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, older persons mental health, eating disorders, anxiety disorders, mothers and babies psychiatry, rehabilitation, psychiatry of intellectual disability, first-episode psychosis, rural psychiatry, and psychotherapy. The training includes supervised clinical experience, didactic teaching, psychotherapy training, research opportunities, and part-time study options.
