Professor Bruce Mellado is a Professor in the School of Physics at the University of the Witwatersrand. He holds a PhD from Columbia University. He serves as Director of the Wits Institute for Collider Particle Physics and as a Senior Researcher at iThemba LABS. His research focuses on particle physics, and he has contributed to major international collaborations including work related to the discovery of the Higgs boson.
Professor Mellado has received several recognitions for his contributions, including the TW Kambule-NSTF Award for Research in 2021, election as a Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences in 2022, and the Vice-Chancellor’s Innovation and Social Impact Award.
