Cameron Beard, M. Bld., B.ConMgt (Hon 1), is an Industry Educator and Program Convenor for the Master of Construction Management in the School of Architecture and Built Environment at the University of Newcastle. He completed his Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours Class 1) in 2002 and Master of Building (Research) in 2006 at the University of Newcastle, the latter supported by a CRC for Construction Innovation Scholarship focusing on implementing building product models in an Australian construction project. Before transitioning to academia at the end of 2019, Beard gained nearly 18 years of industry experience as a client-side Quantity Surveyor at Muller Partnership Australia, serving as Quantity Surveyor from 2002 to 2014 and Director from 2014 to 2019.
In his academic appointments, Beard coordinates courses such as ARBE6610 Project Management Principles, ARBE2308 Cost Planning & Estimating, and ARBE3309 Measurement of Building Works 2, and serves as Program Convenor for the Graduate Certificate in Project Management. His research specializations and interests include construction management, cost planning, decision-making, quantity surveying, risk estimating, Building Information Modelling, and barriers to ICT implementation in quantity surveying.
