About Chantal

Chantal Csajka is a Full Professor in the Faculty of Biology and Medicine at the University of Lausanne, where she holds the position associated with the Centre for Research and Innovation in Clinical Pharmaceutical Sciences (CRISP), which she directs. She earned her pharmacy diploma and a doctorate in pharmaceutical sciences at the University of Lausanne. Following her doctoral studies, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California from 2002 to 2005. Her career includes roles as a teaching and research assistant, followed by associate professor in 2012 and full professor since 2019 in the Section of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Geneva. At the Centre hospitalier universitaire vaudois (CHUV), she has served as research project leader and head of research unit, affiliating with the Clinical Pharmacology Service since 2013 and acting as clinical pharmacist in the Pharmacy Service since 2018. Previously, she was Vice-President of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universities of Geneva and Lausanne.

Professor Csajka's research specializes in population pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacogenetics, focusing on personalized medicine through studies of therapeutic responses and drug toxicity in specific patient groups, safety and efficacy of treatments in vulnerable populations such as the elderly and pediatrics, and the development of clinical tools and guidelines. Her work spans diverse drug classes, including anticancer therapies, antivirals, and antibiotics, contributing to precision dosing strategies. Key publications include 'Pharmacokinetic–Pharmacodynamic Modelling: History and Perspectives' (2006), 'New Challenges in the Aging Population With HIV' (2019, cited over 78 times), 'Population Pharmacokinetics of Trametinib and Impact of Concomitant Medications' (2024), and 'A Model-Based Dosing Approach to Optimize Achievement of Target Voriconazole Concentrations' (2023). Recognized internationally as an expert, her contributions advance clinical pharmacology practices and interprofessional research in drug optimization.
