Emeritus Professor Charlie Benrimoj is an Honorary Professor in the School of Biomedical Sciences and Pharmacy, College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing, at the University of Newcastle. He holds a B.Pharm (Hons) and a PhD. Benrimoj is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (FPS, 2008), Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (FRPSGB, 2008), and Fellow of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FFIP, 2007). His career includes Head of the Graduate School of Health at the University of Technology Sydney from January 2010 to August 2018. At the University of Sydney, he was Foundation Professor of Pharmacy Practice, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Strategic Planning). He is Professor Emeritus at the University of Sydney since August 2018 and Professor in the Pharmaceutical Care Research Group at the University of Granada since July 2008.
Professor Benrimoj's research specializes in the development, evaluation, and implementation of community pharmacy health services. His expertise covers pharmaceutical development, drug information, community pharmacy, clinical pharmacy, pharmacy education, pharmacy management, pharmaceutical education, pharmacoepidemiology, and pharmacoeconomics. He has published over 200 papers, 24 major research reports, co-authored 200 conference presentations, and the book “Community Pharmacy: Strategic Change Management” (2007). Selected publications include “FIP Global Situation Report on Pharmacy: Pharmacist prescribing – the current global landscape” (2025), “Frameworks, theories and models used in the development of health policies: A systematic review of systematic reviews” (2025), “Implementation evaluation of a pharmacist prescribing service for the management of dermatological conditions: a study protocol” (2025), “Pharmacist prescribed contraception using clinical protocols: A review of the grey literature” (2025), “ESPACOMP Medication Adherence Reporting Guideline (EMERGE)” (2018), and “A model for the financial assessment of professional services in community pharmacy” (2019). He received the André Bedat Award from the International Pharmaceutical Federation in 2010 and serves on the Editorial Board of Pharmacy Practice.
