About Charlotte

Charlotte Beaman-Evans is a Senior Lecturer in Physical Education and Sports Scholarship Programme Lead in the School of Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Worcester. Her academic qualifications include an MSc in Sports Science (2013), PGCert in Higher Education: Teaching and Learning (2013), PGCert in Secondary Education: Physical Education (2008), and BSc in Outdoor Adventure and Leadership Management (2007), all obtained from the University of Worcester. She also holds additional certifications such as Understanding athlete transitions (Level 3, 2023), UKAD Educator Certified (2023), and Talented athlete lifestyle support (Level 3, 2016), along with various coaching qualifications in sports including gymnastics, lacrosse, swimming, badminton, tennis, volleyball, football, hockey, sailing, wheelchair basketball, rugby union, basketball, and netball.

Her research specializations encompass fundamental movement skills and their implications for athlete development, talented athlete transitions, dual careers, and athlete lifestyle support within higher education. She has investigated students' perceptions of employability skills using visual aids for feedback enhancement, the UseMyAbility online tool to develop employability understanding, and emotional freedom techniques for dual career athletes via case studies. Notable publications include 'Developing students employability skills through their active engagement with a self-audit tool and the online resource 'usemyability': a Students as Academic Partners (SAP) project' (2013), 'Employability and the UseMyAbility Online Tool: Raising Sports Students’ Awareness to Inform the Development of Their Skills and Attributes' (2016), '‘The blind leading the blind’: Reflections on inclusive practice from a visually impaired student: A Students as Academic Partners (SAP) project' (2023), and 'Honesty amnesty: An interactive workshop on using anti-doping awareness to develop students’ social responsibility' (2023), all presented at the University of Worcester's Annual Learning and Teaching Conference or published in Worcester Research and Publications. In her career, she leads the UW Sport programme, providing pastoral and sport science support to scholarship athletes and high-performance BUCS students. She serves as Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) Lead, UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) Lead, and Dual Career Coordinator, and previously acted as Course Leader for Physical Education and Outdoor Education. Charlotte has achieved international status in rugby and continues to engage in sport.
