About Chen
Chen Lian is an assistant professor in the Department of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. He received his Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2020 and joined the UC Berkeley faculty in July 2020. His academic background includes rigorous training in economic theory at MIT, which informs his contributions to the field.
Chen Lian conducts research in macroeconomics, behavioral economics, and finance, with specific interests in macroeconomic theory, behavioral macroeconomics, behavioral theory, and macro-finance. He serves as a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research. In 2025, Chen Lian received a Sloan Research Fellowship, a two-year award supporting early-career scholars.
