Chris Edwards is a Teaching Fellow in the Database Cluster within the Department of Information Science at the University of Otago. His primary responsibilities encompass the preparation and delivery of tutorial and laboratory exercises, project work, and tests for database courses offered at the 200, 300, and 400 levels. He also assists with course coordination, marking of assessments, and the sourcing or development of tools and materials to effectively illustrate database concepts for students. Operating from Room 3.28 in the Otago Business School, Chris Edwards supports hands-on learning essential for student success in information science.
Chris Edwards teaches several core papers in information systems and related fields, including COMP 101 Foundations of Information Systems, COMP 111 Information and Communications Technology, INFO 202 Developing Information Systems 2, and INFO 203 Human-Computer Interaction and User Experience. These courses cover foundational to advanced topics in systems development, user experience design, and information technology fundamentals. Furthermore, he has delivered presentations in the Computer and Information Science Seminar Series, such as 'Networking audio' on July 23, 2010, 'Bang, beep, buzz, blip: Introducing Pure Data', and a seminar on RoboCup 2016. Through these teaching and presentation activities, Chris Edwards contributes significantly to the educational mission of the Department of Information Science, now part of the School of Computing following the 2023 merger with the Department of Computer Science.
