Christopher Seay serves as Reference Librarian at the Canterbury Medical Library, part of the University of Otago Christchurch campus. In this role, he supports postgraduate students and staff in health-related disciplines, acting as a liaison librarian for programmes such as nursing, psychological medicine, public health, and musculoskeletal medicine. Seay holds an MSc and provides expert assistance with library resources, research strategies, and information literacy. His contributions extend to facilitating access to evidence-based materials essential for academic and clinical research at the University of Otago. Additionally, he is designated as the library contact for the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Society, offering tailored support for interdisciplinary scholarship.
Seay has actively engaged in the University of Otago's Digital Humanities Hub, authoring content on Digital Humanities and Classics in November 2018, where he explored how classicists utilize digital methods and tools, including Omeka.net for teaching. He has participated in workshops demonstrating techniques for finding and cleaning humanities data and delivered sessions such as Library Hack on fast-tracking search skills in Library Search and databases. In scholarly contributions, Seay co-authored the paper 'A meta-synthesis exploring nurses' experiences of assisted dying: An inductive qualitative systematic review,' published in the Journal of Clinical Nursing in February 2024. He is also acknowledged for guiding search strategies in research on health care professionals' knowledge needs regarding assisted dying and other health studies. Through these activities, Seay enhances research capabilities across health sciences and humanities at the University of Otago.
