Colette Rabin is a Professor in the Department of Teacher Education at San José State University’s Connie L. Lurie College of Education. She earned an Ed.D. in Teacher Education, Educational Leadership, and Philosophy of Education from Mills College, an M.A. in Education from San José State University, and a B.A. in Religion from Reed College. Before joining higher education, Rabin taught grades kindergarten through middle school for twelve years. She has been a faculty member at San José State University since 2006 and serves on the faculty of the Ed.D. Leadership Program.
Rabin teaches graduate courses including sociology of education, philosophy of education, research methods, classroom management, health, and student teaching supervision. Her research interests encompass care ethics, social justice, co-teaching, sustainability, and social and emotional learning, with a focus on integrating care ethics into teacher preparation and educational practices. She has authored numerous publications on these topics.
