Connie Miller serves as Clinical Professor and Member of the Graduate Faculty in the University of Arizona College of Nursing. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Arizona State University in 2016, Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Arizona in 1995, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mankato State University in 1983. Holding certifications as a Certified Inpatient Obstetrical Nurse since 1992, Registered Nurse since 1983, and Certified Nurse Educator since 2015, Miller has advanced through faculty ranks at the College of Nursing, including Clinical Professor since 2022, previously from 2017 to 2022 and 2006 to 2017. She previously chaired the General Nursing and Health Education Division. Her teaching encompasses courses such as Applications of OB and Pediatric Nursing, Provider of Care IV: Management and Leadership, Concepts and Competencies I, and Nursing Care of Childbearing Families.
Miller's academic interests focus on maternal-newborn nursing, neonatal care, integrative nursing education, neonatal pain management, and breastfeeding support for infants with cleft lip and/or palate. She co-authored and edited the textbook Maternal Newborn Nursing: Critical Components of Nursing Care (4th ed., F.A. Davis Company, 2022), contributing chapters on newborn nutrition, physiological aspects of antepartum care, and nursing care of the neonate and family. Key peer-reviewed publications include "Promoting Breast Milk Nutrition in Infants With Cleft Lip and/or Palate" (Advances in Neonatal Care, 2016, co-authored with Burca, Gephart, and Cote) and "Facilitated Tucking to Reduce Pain in Neonates: Evidence for Best Practice" (Advances in Neonatal Care, 2015, co-authored with Hartley and Gephart). She also contributed chapters to Integrative Nursing (2nd ed., Oxford University Press, 2018) on pre-licensure and graduate nursing education for integrative nursing. Miller has delivered presentations at national venues, including the AACN Baccalaureate Education Conference (2018) on curriculum tracks, International Integrative Nursing Symposium (2017) on transforming nursing education, and Elsevier Nursing Education Conference (2018) on postpartum assessment. Her honors include the Arizona Champion Award, University of Arizona Academic Leadership Institute Fellowship, Integrative Nursing Faculty Fellowship, and nomination for the 2018 Edith Sayer Auslander Vision Award.
