Professor Wilson's teaching philosophy posits that all great artistic content originates from good research, initiated by a passionate desire to know and communicate a subject more intimately. He focuses on guiding students to employ art as a tool for engaged exploration, utilizing the creative process as a rigorous method to expand their awareness of curiosities, and producing objects that convey the artist's core values. In his personal artistic practice, Wilson applies this methodology to deepen his knowledge of his faith tradition through painting and drawing, sharing that understanding with others. Notable exhibitions feature the Public Art in Public/Affordable Housing Exhibition, Gainesville Housing Authority, Gainesville, Georgia (2020); Matter and Spirit, juried exhibition, Charis Gallery, Roswell, Georgia (2019); and Stations of the Cross Exhibit, Church of the Apostles, Dawsonville, Georgia (2018). He has directed the 'Exploring Appalachia' Mural Project for the Appalachian Studies Center's Gold Rush Era Cabin and collaborated with students on murals at Dahlonega United Methodist Church and for the Gainesville Housing Authority, honoring local community leaders from history.
