Dr Cristina Menni is Senior Lecturer in Molecular Epidemiology at King’s College London in the Department of Twin Research and Genetic Epidemiology within the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine. She leads the metabolomics research group and focuses on integrating large-scale metabolomics, gut microbiome, glycome and dietary data to discover, prioritise and characterise metabolic pathways associated with age-related disorders, including cardiometabolic and inflammatory conditions. Her work also encompasses COVID-19 research using data from the ZOE COVID Study App.
Cristina Menni received a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge and a PhD in statistics from the University of Milan-Bicocca, where she specialised in statistical genetics. She joined the Department of Twin Research and Genetic Epidemiology in 2011 and holds a joint appointment as Associate Professor at the University of Milan. She is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy, Associate Editor for Gut Microbes, a member of the editorial board of Gut Microbes Reports, and serves on the TwinsUK Executive Committee. In 2023 she was named on the Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers list. Her research group explores molecular mechanisms underlying cardiometabolic, inflammatory and age-related diseases through multi-omics datasets and investigates modulation via diet and other interventions.
