Dr. Crystal Clark has made significant contributions to education at Columbus State Community College, particularly in Literature through her extensive work in the English Department. She holds a Master of Arts Degree in English from The Ohio State University, a Master of Theological Studies from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio, and a PhD in Higher Education Administration from the University of Toledo. From 1992 to 2022, Dr. Clark served as faculty in the English Department, teaching composition, creative writing, and literature. Her excellence in teaching was honored with the Distinguished Teaching Award and the Distinguished Full Professor Award. During this period, she also held key fellowships, including International Student Faculty Fellow, Pathways Faculty Fellow, and Dual Enrollment Faculty Fellow. Having taught English at Columbus State for more than 20 years, Dr. Clark focused on inspiring a love of lifelong learning through her lessons on literature and composition.
In Autumn 2022, Dr. Clark assumed the role of Assistant Dean for the Delaware Campus. She serves as co-facilitator of Columbus State’s Women’s Employee Resource Group. Dr. Clark has been the primary energy behind the success of Poets in Black, an event celebrating the African American literary tradition. Conceived in 1998 by a committee she served on and first held in February 1999, the event was influenced by her more than a decade of teaching summer programming at Kenyon College, which shaped her creative writing instruction. Her career reflects deep commitment to pedagogy, administration, and cultural initiatives in Literature and higher education.
