Daniel Holland is Head of the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Canterbury. He completed a Bachelor of Engineering with First Class Honours in chemical and process engineering at the University of Canterbury and subsequently obtained a PhD in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology. His research focuses on sensing, imaging and tomography techniques, including nuclear magnetic resonance methods, to understand fundamental behaviours in chemical systems and improve efficiency in the chemical industries.
Holland has held academic appointments at the University of Canterbury, progressing through roles including senior lecturer and associate professor to his current position as professor and department head. He is a recipient of the Andrew Legacy Scheme Fellowship and has been recognised with awards such as the KiwiNet Emerging Innovator award. His work applies novel measurement and mathematical analysis techniques to industrial challenges in chemical and process engineering.
