Professor Danny Donaghy is Professor of Dairy Production Systems and joint Deputy Head of School/Director of Strategy in the School of Agriculture and Environment at Massey University. He holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Science (Honours) from La Trobe University, awarded in 1994, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of New England, awarded in 1999. Prior to joining Massey University in 2012, he served as Dairy Centre Leader at the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture, where he led and managed dairy research, development, and extension activities.
His research focuses on pasture agronomy and physiology, grazing management, dairy farm systems, and international dairy development. He leads the Whenua Haumanu programme, a major initiative examining resilient pasture systems. Professor Donaghy contributes to numerous peer-reviewed publications on topics including multispecies pastures, methane emissions, and pasture performance under varying management and climate conditions. He is a doctoral supervisor and maintains active involvement in advancing sustainable dairy production practices through his academic and leadership roles at Massey University.
