Professor Dongjing Fu is a faculty member in the Department of Geology at Northwest University in Xi’an, China. She earned her Ph.D. in Paleontology and Stratigraphy from Northwest University and has served as a visiting scholar at Uppsala University in Sweden. Her research centers on the Cambrian explosion and the origin and early evolution of arthropods, drawing on exceptionally preserved fossils from sites including the Chengjiang, Sirius Passet, Emu Bay Shale, and Burgess Shale Lagerstätten. In 2020, she received the Excellent Young Scientist title from China’s Ministry of Education, one of only eight awarded nationwide that year, in recognition of her contributions to understanding arthropod evolution during the Cambrian Period.
Professor Fu has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed papers on topics such as developmental dynamics in early Cambrian arthropods, intraspecific variation, anamorphic development, and palaeoecological aspects of radiodonts and other early animals. She holds the position of Professor at Northwest University and maintains affiliations with the State Key Laboratory of Continental Dynamics and the Shaanxi Key Laboratory of Early Life and Environments. Her work has advanced knowledge of early animal evolution and contributed to international discussions on Cambrian stratigraphy and palaeontology.
