Dusan S. Zrnic earned his Dipl. Ing. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Belgrade in 1965, followed by an M.Sc. in 1966 from the same institution, and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1969. He joined the Electrical Engineering Department at California State University, Northridge in 1969 as an assistant professor, advancing to associate professor in 1974 and full professor in 1978. During his tenure at CSUN, Zrnic's research in radar physics and signal processing intersected with atmospheric science and physics applications. He conducted postdoctoral research at the National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL) as a National Research Council Fellow in 1973-1974 and on sabbatical in 1975-1976. Currently, he is a senior scientist and leader of the Doppler Radar and Remote Sensing Research group at NOAA's NSSL, Research Professor at the University of Oklahoma's Advanced Radar Research Center, and Adjunct Professor of Meteorology and Electrical Engineering at the University of Oklahoma.
