Dr Emily Buddle is a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Agriculture, Food and Wine at Adelaide University. She holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences (2012), Honours (2014), and a Doctor of Philosophy (2019) from the University of Adelaide, along with a Graduate Certificate in Internet Communications (2019) from Curtin University. Her research employs creative and qualitative methods to examine the social, cultural, and ethical dimensions of agriculture, food, and science, with interests including cultural studies of agriculture, food and wine, and rural sociology.
Dr Buddle has held appointments including Visiting Fellow at the Australian National University (2023–ongoing), Senior Project Officer at Livestock SA (2022), Biosecurity Extension Manager at Animal Health Australia (2020–2021), and various roles at the University of Adelaide and Rural Solutions SA. She maintains an active publication record with peer-reviewed articles on topics such as consumer perceptions of farm animal welfare, media framing of agricultural issues, and plant gene technologies, as well as book chapters on related sociocultural themes. Dr Buddle also operates a sheep, beef cattle, and grain farming business.
