Emma Lingham serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Monash Health, Monash University, within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. She earned her Bachelor of Biomedicine with a major in genetics from the University of Melbourne between 2008 and 2010, a Graduate Diploma in Reproductive Sciences in 2011, and a Master of Clinical Embryology in 2012 from Monash University, graduating as Dux. Since 2012, she has trained and worked as a clinical embryologist, accumulating expertise in assisted reproductive technologies. In 2014, Lingham won a joint tender to develop the Embryology: Training Manual and Logbook, commissioned by Scientists in Reproductive Technology (SIRT) for professionals in Australia and New Zealand. Co-authored with Jim Catt and published in 2016, the manual features mini-assignments, case studies, and multiple-choice questions to deepen understanding of ART laboratory principles. She also contributed to a 2013 meeting abstract in Human Reproduction: "A randomised trial investigating the effectiveness and safety of three IVF laboratory disinfectants," co-authored with S. Catt and others. Her research interests include embryo, sperm, oocytes, embryo culture, blastocyst, embryology, reproduction, and education design.
Lingham began teaching and lecturing in the Master of Clinical Embryology program in 2018 to facilitate smoother transitions for students into IVF clinics. She led much of the 2019 course restructure, developing new educational resources and now coordinates units such as MCE5103 (Theory: ART laboratory processes), MCE5101 (Infertility Treatment Strategies), MCE5112 (Practical: ART laboratory processes), and MCE5200 (Laboratory quality management). Additionally, she lectures, assesses, and provides practical training in MCE5100 (Biology of reproduction), MCE5105 (Embryology principles), MCE5212 (Genetic testing in ART), MCE5213 (Ethics and governance of medically assisted reproduction), MCE5205 (Research skills in embryology), MCE5201 (Practical: ART laboratory processes), and GRS4202 (Clinical embryology: Introduction). As a committee member of SIRT since 2017 and executive committee member from 2017 to 2019, she organized educational meetings and conferences for the Australian embryology community. In 2019, she was awarded a scholarship from the Monash Centre for Scholarship in Health Education for the Introduction to Education Research in the Health Professions and Sciences Course.
