Ensieh Fooladi is a Senior Lecturer at Monash University's School of Nursing and Midwifery, based at the Clayton campus, with responsibilities in teaching and research. A registered midwife in Iran, she earned her Master of Education in Midwifery in 1998 and obtained her PhD in Epidemiology from Monash University's Women’s Health Research Program, School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, in 2014. Her PhD research investigated antidepressant-associated sexual dysfunction in midlife women. Following her doctorate, she returned to her previous role as an academic at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Mazandaran University, Sari, Iran, where she had served since 2000. There, she taught undergraduate and postgraduate midwifery students, supervised theses for postgraduate midwifery and medical students, and obtained grants for women's health projects, publishing articles in the field.
Currently, as Masters by Research Stream Lead, she supervises PhD, Masters, and Honours students. Her research centres on women's health and well-being across pre-conception, pregnancy, postpartum, and midlife periods, evidence-based health care, and assessment practices in nursing and midwifery education. She contributes to projects such as factors associated with students’ academic and clinical performance. Fooladi holds a Fellowship in Higher Education, received MNM Research Development Grants in 2021 and 2023, and serves on the Monash University Human Research Ethics Committee and the Research and Report Subcommittee of the Consultative Council on Obstetric and Paediatric Mortality and Morbidity. She is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical Nursing since 2019 and a peer reviewer for Climacteric since 2020. Key publications include "Sexual difficulties, distress and dysfunction among women with refugee background in Australia" (Climacteric, 2026, with Susan Davis and Rakib M. Islam), "Master of Nursing Students’ (MNS) Experiences With Online Learning During COVID-19 Pandemic: A Qualitative Study in an Australian University" (Nursing Forum, 2025, with K. Alatawi et al.), "Sexual and reproductive health content in Australian pre-registration nursing and midwifery programs: A review of curricula" (Nurse Education in Practice, 2025), "The evidence of effectiveness and safety of peripheral intravenous catheter dressings and securement devices: a systematic review and meta-analysis protocol" (Journal of Wound Management, 2025), and "Women and husbands’ experiences and expectations of shared decision-making during pregnancy and childbirth in Saudi Arabia: A qualitative study" (Midwifery, 2025). Her work supports UN Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4, 5, and 16.
