Holding an M.A. (1984) and B.Sc. (1982) from the University of Guelph, she has dedicated her career to the institution since 1988, initially as a Lecturer until 2007, before advancing to her current tenured position. Adomait's contributions extend far beyond the classroom through extensive service and authorship. She received the University of Guelph Faculty Association Distinguished Professorial Teaching Award in 2011, along with a CMESA Recognition Certificate for excellence in student support that same year. Her publications include two popular textbooks co-authored with Richard G. Maranta: Dinner Party Economics (Pearson Education Canada, 2014) and Cocktail Party Economics (Pearson Education Canada, 2011), designed to make economic concepts accessible. Earlier refereed journal articles addressed economic losses from ozone pollution on crops: "A Dose-Response Function for the Impact of O3 on Ontario-Grown White Bean and an Estimate of Economic Loss" (Canadian Journal of Plant Science, 1987) and "The Use of Cultivar Yield Data to Estimate Losses Due to Ozone in Peanut" (Canadian Journal of Plant Science, 1986).
In university service, she has chaired the departmental undergraduate curriculum committee, developed co-op programs for economics majors, served on Senate multiple terms including as Chair of the Priorities and Planning subcommittee since 2023, and contributed to accreditation and awards committees. Adomait delivered the 2017 Convocation Address, presented a TEDxGuelphU talk "Perceiving Past the Paradigm" in 2012, and has appeared in media such as CBC Radio and The Globe and Mail. Her involvement in recruitment, alumni engagement, and student support underscores her profound impact on the academic community.
