Dr. H. Frank Cervone is a Lecturer and BSISDA Program Coordinator in the School of Information at San Jose State University, where he also serves as Program Coordinator for the Master of Science in Library and Information Science. Bringing more than 25 years of leadership experience in information technology and management, Cervone previously directed Information Technology at the School of Public Health, University of Illinois at Chicago, contributing to advancements in health informatics until retiring from that position in 2023. He holds professional certifications including Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) and Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS). His career encompasses extensive teaching in areas such as health informatics, electronic records management, and research methods in library and information science, supporting SJSU's online asynchronous LIS education programs.
Cervone's research specializations include cybersecurity, health informatics, health information technology, information privacy and security, knowledge and information retrieval management, LIS education and programs, and social network analysis. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, with key works such as 'Effective Communication for Project Success' (OCLC Systems & Services, 2014), 'Disaster Recovery Planning and Business Continuity for Informaticians' (Digital Library Perspectives, 2017), 'Evaluating Social Media Presence: A Practical Application of Big Data and Analytics in Information Organizations' (Digital Library Perspectives, 2017), 'What Does the Evolution of Curriculum in Knowledge Management Programs Tell Us About the Future of the Field?'
