Great Professor!
Dr. Fu Ouyang is a Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the School of Economics at the University of Queensland, a position he has held since 2018. He earned his PhD in Economics from Duke University in 2017. His research centers on theoretical and applied econometrics, statistics, and applied economics. Ouyang develops robust yet easy-to-implement econometric and statistical methods for causal inference, semi- and non-parametric estimation, analysis of longitudinal (panel) data, and limited dependent variable models. His methodological contributions address challenges in high-dimensional settings, dynamic binary choice models, and multinomial response models. These advancements support applications in empirical industrial organization, labor economics, and health economics. His expertise spans econometrics, statistics, applied economics, causal inference, semi- and non-parametric estimation, longitudinal data analysis, limited dependent variable models, empirical industrial organization, labor economics, and health economics.
Ouyang has published in prestigious journals such as the Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, Econometric Theory, Quantitative Economics, and Economics Letters. Key publications include 'High dimensional binary choice model with unknown heteroskedasticity or instrumental variables' (2025, Journal of Econometrics, with Yang); 'Revisiting panel data binary choice models with lagged dependent variables' (2025, Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, with Dobronyi and Yang); 'Semiparametric estimation of dynamic binary choice panel data models' (2025, Econometric Theory, with Yang); 'Inference on semiparametric multinomial response models' (2021, Quantitative Economics, with Khan and Tamer); and 'Semiparametric identification and estimation of discrete choice models for bundles' (2020, Economics Letters, with Yang and Zhang). He teaches courses including Elements of Econometrics (ECON7310) and others in the School of Economics. Contacted through his office in Room 532A, Colin Clark Building.
