Dr. Gabriel Blecher serves as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University. He is also recognized as an Adjunct Associate Professor. As an accomplished emergency physician, he holds the position of Clinical Director of Emergency at Peninsula Health, Frankston Hospital, bringing over 20 years of experience in acute care and health system leadership. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery with Honours (MBBS Hons), Postgraduate Diploma in Medicine (PDM), Master of Science in Epidemiology (MSc Epi) from the University of Ottawa, Certificate of Competence in Point of Care Ultrasound (CCPU), and Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM).
Blecher's research focuses on emergency medicine and point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). He contributes to the Monash Emergency Research Collaborative Centre and supervises postgraduate and honours research students in emergency medicine projects. He led a Monash Emergency trial assessing a new imaging guideline utilizing point-of-care ultrasound for renal colic to reduce CT usage. Blecher has received the Monash Health Translationally Health Partnership Emerging Researcher Fellowship (2014-2016) and served on the Low Risk Review Panel at Monash Health. Previously, he was an Emergency Physician and Deputy Director of Emergency at Monash Health.
