About Geo

Geo Sipp is the Professor of Art and Director of the School of Art and Design at Kennesaw State University, part of the Geer College of the Arts. He holds a BFA from the University of Florida and an MFA from Clemson University. As director, Sipp has overseen substantial growth in the school's enrollment, which now exceeds 1,000 students. His leadership emphasizes creative problem solving, design thinking, and the development of transdisciplinary opportunities within programs such as digital animation, art education, illustration, painting and drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, and textiles.

Sipp is a distinguished illustrator and visual artist with more than 40 years of experience in the field. Following his graduate studies, he transitioned from commercial illustration to academia to pursue his personal artistic vision, particularly as digital tools like Photoshop transformed the industry. His notable ongoing project, the wordless graphic novel 'Wolves in the City,' features illustrations that encourage viewer interpretation of narratives and emotions. For one such illustration, 'The Milk Bar,' Sipp earned the 2025 Merit Award for Illustration in the Self-Promotion category from the prestigious Art Directors Club, an international competition recognizing excellence across design and advertising disciplines. Furthermore, two of his works were selected for American Illustration 44, affirming his place among leading contemporary illustrators. Sipp's multifaceted practice includes painting, printmaking, and drawing on grained glass, as seen in series like 'Wolves in the City -- The Algerian Series.' He contributes to the academic community through curation of exhibitions, interdisciplinary projects, and mentorship of students.
