About Georgina

Georgina Luscombe is Associate Professor of Rural Health at the School of Rural Health, Sydney Medical School, Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney. She holds a PhD and a BSc (Hons 1) obtained from the University of Sydney between 1990 and 1993. Luscombe has been an active researcher in the rural clinical school setting for over two decades, with appointments including Senior Lecturer in Medical Statistics. Based at the Rural Clinical School in Dubbo/Orange, her career focuses on quantitative medical research supporting rural health initiatives. She contributes to teaching and supervision in rural health and digital health curricula.

A/Prof Luscombe's principal research interest is rural health, particularly promoting fairer participation of Aboriginal people in healthcare and research. Her work spans medical statistics, rural workforce retention, musculoskeletal health, dementia care, end-of-life care in aged care facilities, and chronic wound management.
