Gustavo Nader Marta is Professor Livre-Docente at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP). He holds a doctorate and postdoctoral degree in Sciences (Oncology Program) from FMUSP. He is a specialist physician in radiotherapy, radiosurgery, and stereotactic radiotherapy. He serves as titular physician in the Department of Radiotherapy at Hospital Sírio-Libanês in São Paulo and as permanent professor in the Graduate Program (master's and doctorate) in Oncology at the Instituto de Ensino e Pesquisa of Hospital Sírio-Libanês. He is president of the Sociedade Brasileira de Radioterapia and of the Society for Neuro-Oncology Latin America (SNOLA). He is a full member of the Sociedade Brasileira de Radioterapia and the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), where he represents the International Scientific Committee, and an associate member of the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO).
His research interests include neuro-oncology, breast cancer, head and neck cancer, bone metastases, and palliative care, as well as functional radiosurgery for trigeminal neuralgia, movement disorders, epilepsy, and behavioral and mood disorders. Among his key publications are “Intensity-modulated radiation therapy for head and neck cancer: systematic review and meta-analysis” (2014), “International guidelines on radiation therapy for breast cancer during the COVID-19 pandemic” (2020), and “Moderately hypofractionated post-operative radiation therapy for breast cancer: Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials” (2022). He has contributed to international consensus guidelines on radiation therapy practices.
