About Hani

Dr. Hani Jneid serves as Professor and Department Chair of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston, where he also holds the roles of Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Care Line and the John Sealy Distinguished Centennial Chair in Cardiology. He additionally directs the Sealy Heart and Vascular Institute and serves as Vice President of Cardiovascular Operations. A specialist in clinical and interventional cardiology, Dr. Jneid earned his MD from the American University of Beirut Medical School Hospital in 1998. He completed residency training in internal medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 2002, followed by fellowship training in cardiovascular medicine at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 2005 and interventional cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital of Harvard Medical School in 2006, with an additional advanced interventional cardiology fellowship there in 2007. He holds triple board certification in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology.

Prior to joining UTMB, Dr. Jneid was Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program at Baylor College of Medicine, Director of Interventional Cardiology at the DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Director of Structural Heart Disease at Ben Taub Hospital. His clinical interests encompass coronary artery disease, aortic valve disease, and cardiovascular prevention. He helped establish the first transcatheter aortic valve implantation program in the VA healthcare system and led the team that initiated the first such program for the Harris Health System in Houston. Dr. Jneid has received multiple honors, including the Medal of Service for Clinical Care of Veteran Patients at the DeBakey VAMC in 2016, the Star Award for Excellence in Patient Care at Baylor College of Medicine in 2021, and the national Gifted Educator Award from the American College of Cardiology in 2021. His research focuses on outcomes research and clinical trials in acute coronary syndromes, coronary artery disease, and transcatheter aortic valve implantation, with more than 340 PubMed-indexed publications. He serves on seven journal editorial boards and has chaired or participated in numerous national American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association guidelines, performance measures documents, and position statements.
