Dr Hayley Croft (PhD, BPharm, GradCertDiabetes, AACPA, MPS) is a Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy in the School of Biomedical Sciences and Pharmacy, College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing, at the University of Newcastle, Australia. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmacy from the University of Newcastle and a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Sydney. A registered pharmacist with 15 years of clinical experience in medication management services in community pharmacy, residential aged care facilities, and private disability organizations, Croft began her academic career as a Clinical Educator in the Faculty of Health and Medicine in 2008, advancing to a full-time teaching and research position. She delivers pharmacy practice and pharmacotherapeutics education across all year levels to pharmacy and nursing students, accumulating 15 years of teaching service.
Croft's research specializes in the scholarship of teaching and learning, focusing on workforce development, experiential learning, assessment of health professional competence via Entrustable Professional Activities in workplace settings, and the role of pharmacists in enhancing medicine safety for people with disabilities and cognitive impairments. She has secured 16 grants totaling $142,717 as lead or chief investigator, including the 2024 Community Pharmacist-led Intervention for Individuals with Intellectual Disability ($25,000, Newcastle & Hunter Valley Pharmacists Association) and 2022 Exploring the role of the community pharmacist within a team-based model of care for patients with disability ($6,565). Awards include the 2022 College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing Early-Career Teaching Award, 2021 DVC(A) Educator Innovation and Impact Award, and 2023 Work Integrated Learning Staff Member of the Year.
