About Huaqing

Dr. Henry Huaqing Xu serves as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Business at UQ Business School, part of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, University of Queensland. He obtained his PhD in supply chain management from Imperial College London. Xu's research specializations and academic interests center on supply chain management, including process modelling for manufacturing systems, agile manufacturing in complex supply networks, blockchain adoption and financing strategies in outsourcing remanufacturing supply chains, service investment strategies for digital products in social e-commerce environments, optimal product quality and live streaming introduction considering information interaction and deceptive promotion, cooperation mechanisms for augmented reality services balancing product returns, pricing, and customer satisfaction, data-driven strategies for AI chips supply chains with blockchain traceability under capacity constraints, firms' environmental innovation cooperation under government regulation, blockchain-enabled quality inspection in hybrid retailing, optimal financing modes for capital-constrained manufacturers under different sales strategies, omnichannel retailer inventory replenishment using vehicle capacity-sharing amid demand uncertainties, equilibrium pricing, advertising, and quality strategies in platform service supply chains, channel encroachment and logistics integration in e-commerce platform service supply chains, and blockchain traceability for sustainability communication in food supply chains.

Throughout his career at the University of Queensland, Xu secured the UQ New Staff Research Start-Up Fund from 2008 to 2010 for his project on framework for exception management in distributed supply networks. He has produced a prolific body of work with key publications such as 'Optimal blockchain adoption and financing strategies in an outsourcing remanufacturing supply chain' (International Transactions in Operational Research, 2026), 'Blockchain implementation decisions in a dual-channel supply chain under different market power structures' (International Journal of Production Research, 2025), 'Optimizing omnichannel retailer inventory replenishment using vehicle capacity-sharing with demand uncertainties and service level requirements' (European Journal of Operational Research, 2025), 'Blockchain Traceability for Sustainability Communication in Food Supply Chains: An Architectural Framework, Design Pathway and Considerations' (Sustainability, 2023), 'Financing decisions of third-party remanufacturers with different co-opetition modes: the impact of blockchain adoption' (Managerial and Decision Economics, 2024), and book chapters including 'Supply chain process modelling for manufacturing systems' (Encyclopedia of Business Analytics and Optimization, 2014) and 'Agile manufacturing in complex supply networks' (Enterprise Networks and Logistics for Agile Manufacturing, 2010). Xu co-edited the book Supply Chain Risk Mitigation: Strategies, Methods and Applications. In 2012, he co-won the ANZAM Technology, Innovation & Supply Chain Management Stream Award. His scholarship has amassed over 880 citations, underscoring his influence in operations management and supply chain theory. Xu is available for PhD supervision within the International Business Discipline.
