I-Ming Hsing is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from National Taiwan University in 1990. After serving as a 2nd Lieutenant and instructor in the Marine Corps of Taiwan from 1990 to 1992, he obtained an M.S. in Chemical Engineering Practice from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1994 and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the same institution in 1997. Hsing joined HKUST as an Assistant Professor in 1997, was promoted to Associate Professor in 2004, and became Professor in 2008. He previously served as Head of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, as Head of the Division of BioMedical Engineering, and as Director of the Bioengineering Graduate Program at HKUST. He also directed the Center for Bioengineering and Biomedical Devices at the Nansha campus from 2007 to 2011. His research specializations include bioelectronics, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, biosensors, and microsystems. Hsing has held editorial roles including Associate Editor of ELECTROANALYSIS and service on the editorial boards of Biomicrofluidics, Sensors, and Biofabrication. He is a Guest Professor at Sichuan University, East China Normal University, and an Adjunct Professor at South China University of Technology, as well as a Guest Research Fellow at the Shanghai Institute of MicroSystem and Information Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is also Program Director of the MSc in Biomolecular Engineering and Health Informatics at HKUST.
