About Ibrahim

Dr. Ibrahim Babangida Abubakar serves as Assistant Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academics and Research and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry at Kampala International University. He holds a PhD in Biochemistry with specialization in drug discovery and natural products from the University of Nottingham, along with postgraduate and undergraduate qualifications in biotechnology and biochemistry. With over sixteen years of combined academic, research, and administrative experience, he previously held roles as Associate Dean for Research and Assistant Dean for Teaching and Learning at KIU, and as Deputy Dean and Head of the Department of Biochemistry at Kebbi State University of Science and Technology in Nigeria. His research focuses on the application of natural products in cancer therapy, infectious diseases, and neglected tropical diseases. He has an extensive publication record in high-impact international journals and has supervised numerous MSc, MMED, and PhD students in biomedical and translational research. Dr. Abubakar is actively involved in professional service, editorial and peer-review activities, and community engagement, and he is a member of several professional bodies. He has received international awards, fellowships, and research grants in recognition of his scholarly contributions.
