Ingrid Landau is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Law and Taxation within Monash Business School at Monash University. She serves as the departmental Director of Postgraduate Studies by Coursework and is a member of the Labour, Equality and Human Rights (LEAH) Research Group. Landau earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Law from Melbourne Law School at the University of Melbourne in 2021, with a thesis titled "Rights, Risks and Rules: The Rise of Human Rights Due Diligence and Implications for Transnational Labour Governance." She holds Bachelor degrees with Honours in Asian Studies (Vietnamese) and Law from the Australian National University. Before joining Monash, she worked in the legal and international departments of the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU), where she focused on Australian and international labour law reform and represented trade unions in various national and international forums.
Landau's academic interests encompass Australian employment law, comparative and transnational labour regulation, corporate labour and human rights due diligence, socially responsible public procurement, and labour regulation in the Asia-Pacific. She teaches the unit "Human Rights and Global Business" at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her expertise has led to consultancies for International Labour Organization (ILO) offices in Geneva, Hanoi, and Suva, as well as civil society organizations in Australia and abroad. She has served as principal researcher on Australian Research Council (ARC) and industry-funded projects. Notable publications include "Sustainability finance and corporate sustainability due diligence: interactions, complementarities and accountability logics" (2025, University of New South Wales Law Journal, with A. Foerster and M. House), "Will remedy remain rare? The potential of mandatory human rights due diligence to redress modern slavery" (2025, book chapter with S. Marshall), "Draft Text for an ILO Convention on Decent Work in Global Supply Chains" (2024, with S. Marshall), and the book "Human Rights Due Diligence and Labour Governance." Landau has received the 2021 Monash Business School Commendation for PRME Education Excellence and the 2018 Dean's Commendation for PRME Research Excellence. Her contributions extend to public lectures, policy submissions, and invited speaking engagements.
