Dr. Ingrid Millar is a Lecturer in Accounting in the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics at Griffith University's Griffith Business School. With more than 20 years of teaching experience, she has instructed courses in Auditing, Accounting Theory, Financial Accounting, and serves as convenor and lecturer for undergraduate courses including Governance, Auditing and Analytics. Millar completed her Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Queensland Business School, focusing her doctoral thesis on carbon risk and proactive environmental strategy.
Her academic research investigates capital market responses to non-financial information, particularly carbon risk profiles, sustainability assurance quality, and tax reporting under standards like GRI 207. Key publications include 'The Value Relevance of a Firm’s Carbon Risk Profile' (2025, Abacus, co-authored with Peter Clarkson and Kathleen Herbohn; cited by 6), derived from her PhD thesis; 'Tax reporting under GRI 207: an exploratory case study of Shell plc' (2026, eJournal of Tax Research, with Md Omar Faruq Khan, Brett Freudenberg, and Melissa Belle Isle); 'Sustainability Assurance Quality, Cost of Debt and Financial Constraints: Evidence From Australia' (2025); and 'The Cost of Carbon: Capital Market Effects of the Proposed Emission Trading Scheme (ETS)' (earlier work with Clarkson and Herbohn). Millar is faculty in Griffith University's Academy of Excellence in Financial Crime Investigation and Compliance, contributed to a 2024 submission to the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing, and has presented at conferences such as AFAANZ and the Financial Markets and Corporate Governance Conference.
