Jamie Brown is Professor of Behavioural Science and Health at University College London. He serves as Director of the UCL Tobacco and Alcohol Research Group. Brown holds an MA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge awarded in 2005 and a PhD in Experimental Psychology from the University of Cambridge awarded in 2010. He joined UCL in 2010 as a researcher and was appointed Professor in 2020.
Brown leads research focused on smoking cessation and alcohol reduction, drawing on behavioural science to examine population-wide influences and develop interventions. He co-leads a Cancer Research UK programme providing insights into these areas. His work encompasses health psychology, addiction, and digital interventions. Brown was appointed a Higher Education Academy Fellow in 2017. He has served as Assistant Editor of the journal Addiction. Brown maintains an active research profile with extensive publications in peer-reviewed outlets on topics including smoking, alcohol use, and behaviour change.
