Javed Anwar serves as a Scholarly Teaching Fellow and Lecturer in the Department of Management within the Faculty of Business and Economics at Monash University, located at the Caulfield campus. He possesses extensive academic experience, having worked as a guest lecturer, sessional lecturer, part-time lecturer, teaching associate, and research associate at Monash University and other institutions abroad. Renowned for his proficiency in public speaking, Anwar excels in stimulating student engagement, fostering supportive communication, and incorporating work-integrated business knowledge into his pedagogy. His teaching portfolio spans both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, covering subjects such as international business, principles of management, introduction to management, international management, international economics, business research methods, business statistics, organisational behaviour, strategic management, and managing multinational enterprises.
Anwar's research interests focus on corporate governance, firm internationalisation, and business teaching pedagogy, contributing to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals including SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). Notable publications include "Impact of board-management relationship on corporate governance: a literature review," "International parity condition: implications of international Fisher Effect in emerging, developed, and major markets," "The U.S. financial crisis from 2007: are there regulatory and governance failure?," "Asymmetry barriers to corporate governance effectiveness" (2009, Journal of Innovation and Development Strategy), "Firm internationalisation: does corporate governance matter?" (2012), "Macroeconomic management, regulatory governance and FDI competitiveness of Bangladesh: a South Asian perspective" (2010), "Regulatory governance approach to curb financial crises: the U.S. economic perspective" (2009), and "Bank governance effectiveness towards regulatory compliance: evidence from private commercial banks of Bangladesh" (2009). He has received the Agrani Bank Gold Medal in 1997 and 2000, Australia Awards in 2001 and 2010, and the Best Conference Paper award in 2009. Additionally, Anwar delivered a public lecture titled "Closing the income gap: Lessons from microbusinesses in Bangladesh" in 2016.
